About Karin Elgar
After obtaining a Degree in Biology and a PhD in Physiology I worked in the pharmaceutical industry
for many years gaining a good medical knowledge and insight into drug development. I had long had an interest
in a healthy lifestyle and after experiencing myself how simple changes to my diet significantly improved my health I decided
to take this interest further and started a 3 year course at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION). From there I graduated with Merit in 2004 and have since then been practicing in the Greater
Manchester area.
Although I have
a special interest in women’s health, I see clients with a wide range of health problems including digestive disorders,
fatigue, mental health and weight problems.

| Karin Elgar, PhD DipION MBANT, NTC registered practitioner |
I am a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional
Therapy (BANT) and registered with the Nutritional Therapy Council (NTC), the newly established self-regulating body for nutritional therapists. As a member of their virtual
network of nutritionists I take referrals from Nuffield Proactive Health.
I run clinics at my office in Stalybridge, Cheshire, at Saks Cheadle/David Lloyd Cheadle and
at the Body & Mind Therapy Centre in Mossley, Lancashire. Clinic times are Thursdays and Fridays, with daytime and evening appointments. I can also see clients on Saturday mornings if these times are unsuitable. Telephone
consultations can be arranged for clients who live too far to travel.
In addition to seeing individual clients I hold talks
and workshops on healthy eating and have undertaken several nutrition consultancy projects. I also regularly
write for local and national publications.
